Stop Seasonal Shedding: Spring Fur Control Tips

Spring is here, and so is the fur—everywhere. If your dog is leaving behind a trail of hair on your floors, furniture, and even your clothes, you’re not alone. Shedding is a natural process, but with a few simple tips, you can keep the fur flurries under control.

1. Brush, Brush, and Brush Some More

Regular brushing is your best defense against seasonal shedding. It removes loose fur before it lands all over your home.

Best Brushes for the Job:

Short-haired dogs → Rubber curry brush or bristle brush
Medium-haired dogs → Slicker brush or de-shedding tool
Long-haired dogs → Undercoat rake + wide-tooth comb for tangles

Tip: Brush outside if possible to keep loose fur out of your home.

2. Bathe with a De-Shedding Shampoo

A good bath helps loosen excess fur and keeps your dog’s coat healthy. Use a moisturizing, De-Shedding shampoo to prevent dryness, which can lead to even more shedding.

How Often? Every 3-4 weeks (or as needed, depending on breed).

3. Upgrade Their Diet

Healthy coats start from the inside. A diet rich in omega-3 & omega-6 fatty acids promotes a shiny coat and reduces excessive shedding.

High-quality dog food with real meat and healthy fats.

4. Keep Them Hydrated

Dehydration leads to dry skin, which = more shedding. Make sure your pup has access to fresh water 24/7 to keep their coat healthy.

5. Control Indoor Fur with Smart Cleaning Hacks

Use a robot vacuum or a vacuum with a pet hair attachment.
Keep lint rollers handy for clothes & furniture.
Cover favorite lounging spots with washable blankets.

6. Check for Underlying Health Issues

If your dog’s shedding seems excessive, or they have bald spots, itching, or redness, consult a vet to rule out allergies, skin infections, or other health concerns.
